Window and Door Performance Standards, Energy Codes, and Acoustic Design for Commercial Products - Part III
1 Credit
About this Course:
This course dives into the technical performance standards and regulatory frameworks that govern fenestration design. Topics include ASCE7 structural load calculations, AAMA/FGIA certification, NFRC thermal ratings, and energy code compliance paths (IECC, ASHRAE, ENERGY STAR, PHIUS). It also addresses acoustic performance, testing methods, and design strategies to mitigate exterior noise. Architects will learn how to interpret certification labels, specify products for hurricane zones, and optimize thermal and acoustic performance in mid/high-rise buildings.
Learning Objectives:
-
Connect ASCE7 wind load data to AAMA ratings.
-
Navigate energy code compliance paths and certification programs.
-
Interpret NFRC labels and thermal performance metrics.
-
Design for acoustic performance using STC/OITC ratings and IGU configurations.
Prerequisite Knowledge:
-
uPVC Product Differentiation and Design Integration - Part II
