Season 4 of the show, which celebrates cutting-edge design and innovation, featured two standout projects showcasing VPI’s exceptional window systems: The Shay at Ivy Station and Blue Oak Landing.

The Shay at Ivy Station: Boutique Hospitality Meets Design Innovation


In Episode 2 of Season 4 of America ByDesign, The Shay hotel in Culver City, California, was spotlighted for its vibrant, eclectic design. KFA Architecture provided the architectural design for the building, while Studio Collective focused on the hotel's interior design and the public spaces within the development. Part of the Ivy Station mixed-use development, The Shay offers 148 rooms and a dynamic blend of rooftop venues, pop-up retail, and communal spaces.


VPI windows contribute to the hotel’s inviting ambiance by providing superior acoustic insulation and sleek, modern aesthetics. These features enhance guest comfort while complementing the building’s contemporary design language. Blue Oak Landing: A Model for Sustainable, Supportive Housing


Episode 3 of Season 4 features Blue Oak Landing, a modular, all-electric affordable housing development in Vallejo, California. Designed by David Baker Architects, the project includes 75 apartments across two four-story buildings and is a pioneering example of resilient, zero-energy housing.


VPI windows are integral to the project’s energy performance and visual appeal. Their role in natural ventilation, daylighting, and thermal efficiency supports Blue Oak Landing’s sustainability goals while contributing to a welcoming, dignified living environment for residents. The project’s use of weathering steel, heat pump systems, and centralized water heating further exemplifies its commitment to environmental stewardship.
